ASI’s Innovative and Affordable Solutions Energy (IASE) Hackathon

Welcome to the inaugural Anneru Solutions Incorporated (ASI) Hackathon for Innovative and Affordable Energy Solutions, a global hackathon focused on generating innovative, affordable, and scalable energy solutions that transform energy access and efficiency in underserved and resource-limited communities. We invite students, academic and industry professionals, government bodies, entrepreneurs, and community innovators to tackle persistent energy problems, especially where infrastructure, financing, and technical capacity are constrained. Participants will design, prototype, and pitch solutions that improve access, reliability, safety, and affordability of energy for households, organizations, and communities.

Problem Statement

Millions of households and organizations still face intermittent or negligible supply, high costs, and safety risks due to theft, tampering, weak grid infrastructure, lack of access to the grid, and limited technical capacity.

These challenges are magnified in resource‑limited settings, where capital, infrastructure, skills, and maintenance are limited. We call on participants to deliver high‑impact solutions that can be implemented within 6-18 months, show a path to sustainability, and can be adapted across different global contexts, including Africa, North America and underserved areas in other high-income regions around the world.

Why Join the Hackathon

You will be changing the world for good

🏥 Healthcare Impact

“It is estimated that close to 1 billion people in low- and lower-middle-income countries are served by health-care facilities without reliable electricity access or with no electricity access at all.” – WHO Global Health Observatory Database

📡 Telecommunications Impact

“Industry experts estimate that telecom operators use at least 40 million litres of diesel each month to maintain the country’s communications backbone. This amounts to more than $350 million annually in diesel expenses.” – State of Africa’s Infrastructure Report 2025

Fixing the power and energy problem in multiple countries will decrease mortality rates and improve GDP.
